The Kentucky baseball season came to an end at the hands of West Virginia in the Clemson Regional last night. In a familiar script, the Wildcats (31-26) blew two 5-run leads to eventually fall 13-12 to the Mountaineers. NCAA president Charlie Baker has revealed that the NCAA Tournament could expand to as many as 76 teams by the 2026 tournament. “That would be the goal, to try and do this for next year,” Baker told David Rumsey of Front Office Sports. “We’ve been talking about 72 and 76.” The current version of the NCAA Tournament includes 68 teams. Former Kentucky forward E.J. Montgomery will continue his professional career in Lebanon. Montgomery recently signed with Nadim Souaid Academy in Lebanon’s LBL league. Last season, Montgomery played for the Birmingham Squadron in the NBA G League. In 39 games he averaged 3.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
