The AFC North ranks third among divisions in quarterback rankings.
In the last three years, the AFC North has seen a massive overhaul in quarterback talent. Three young quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson and of course Joe Burrow.
These young quarterbacks have proved themselves to differing degrees, but they are already being recognized as one of the best divisions for quarterbacks in the NFL by CBS Sports:
Jackson is arguably the most electrifying player in the entire league. Critique his deep-ball/big-game passing, but few QBs threaten to change the game every time they touch the ball. He does. Mayfield has successfully adapted to serve as something of a spunky game manager in Kevin Stefanski’s smooth offense. Burrow still has plenty to prove but has the moxie and football IQ to put up numbers and survive any forthcoming staff overhauls. Roethlisberger, once the face of the North, is better suited for a Mayfield-type role now that his arm has lost the juice for signature gunslinging, but he’s still capable of a playoff bid.
Roethlisberger’s two Super Bowl rings may help break some ties here among the other divisions, but it is clear that Jackson’s MVP and Mayfield’s deep playoff run are carrying this ranking.
Burrow’s potential also plays a big role. However, once he proves himself it should be pretty easy to move up the ranking.
There should be a fun few years of AFC North quarterback to come, and these three young bulls will be leading the way for competition in the AFC.
