Twitter really loved the Matt Lee selection.
If the first two days of the NFL Draft are the meat and potatoes, the third day is desert. The Cincinnati Bengals have exhausted their 10 picks, six of which came on Saturday, and have added some exciting and talented players to positions of need.
Some of the most important players in Bengals history were selected in the later rounds of the draft. Domata Peko (4), Kevin Huber (5), Geno Atkins (4), Marvin Jones (5), George Iloka (5), Rex Burkhead (6), C.J. Uzomah (5), Carl Lawson (4), Evan McPherson (5), Cordell Volson (4), Chase Brown (5), and Andrei Iosivas (6) were all selected on day three of the draft, and all them were, at one point, big parts of this team. Some still are, and will be in the future.
On the third day of the draft, the Bengals added Iowa tight end Erick All, who grew up in Cincinnati and went to Fairfield High School in the fourth round. Then they added TCU cornerback Josh Newton in the fifth. In the sixth round, the Bengals selected another tight end, Tanner McLachlan out of Arizona, and Ole Miss edge rusher Cedric Johnson.
Finally, in the seventh round, they were able to grab Ole Miss safety Daijahn Anthony and Miami (Fl) center Matt Lee. Twitter was especially happy for the Lee selection.
Here’s a roundup of some of the best Twitter reactions from Day 3!
“If he stays healthy he could be like the next George Kittle.”

If Erick All’s body is up for it in the NFL, Joe Burrow just found the monster pass-catching TE he’s been looking for.
All was a late-R3 guy on my board.

Despite his injury, Erick All is one of the most complete TEs in this draft

Cornerback Josh Newton was hilarious on his conference call with the media after the #Bengals picked him in the fifth round. This exchange with @Trags was my favorite moment pic.twitter.com/97ns8ykkhJ

AYE OUR TEAM REALLY LIVE AF
— Josh Newton (@BumpnRunFig) April 27, 2024
Josh Newton is a bit of a surprise for the Bengals at CB. They have really prioritized athleticism and Newton’s 4.51 40 and 6.36 RAS don’t fit that bill. He’s on the older side, but they haven’t minded age at CB.
He was a 6th year senior captain at TCU. One of the most…

Daniel Jeremiah had Tanner McLachlan as his TE2 in this year’s draft behind only Bowers. https://t.co/RqGCyjZvCj pic.twitter.com/EdaYeoh4m1

Tanner McLachlan was drafted in round 6 pick 194 in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 7.66 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 281 out of 1199 TE from 1987 to 2024. https://t.co/iFBMcltDCj pic.twitter.com/8ts8MHYW0H

Cedric Johnson since 2021:
850 pass-rushing snaps
107 QB pressures
13 sacks— PFF CIN Bengals (@PFF_Bengals) April 27, 2024
Good pick for the Bengals with DE Cedric Johnson. He was one of the only players at that position in this class who had the frame that they’ve built around at DE at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds.
Johnson won the Chucky Mullins award at Ole Miss. That’s the award that Mike Hilton won…

Cedric Johnson was drafted in round 6 pick 214 in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.28 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 130 out of 1798 DE from 1987 to 2024. https://t.co/nvxFkwYqcZ pic.twitter.com/eW2FQQFmsb

Dane Brugler with a 4th-5th round grade on Cedric Johnson.
His summary: Still learning how to build an efficient rush sequence, but he has interesting athletic tools, and an NFL team should be able to coach more out of him. Although he might never reach three-down-starter…

Bengals new EDGE Cedric Johnson’s production profile is .. bad:
▪️PR Win Rate – 15th percentile
▪️PRWR on true pass sets – 7th percentile
▪️Run Stop % – 20th percentilePros: young (21.5 y/o) and athletic (93rd percentile).
Basically Myles Murphy if he was a 7th round pick.

Bengals new S Daijahn Anthony had a 4th round grade on our board.
He had the 2nd best ballhawk score of the 51 safeties we graded.
Played all over at nickel, in the box, and at FS. Another chess piece for the secondary.
This safety class was stacked. Thats a BPA pick. Like it!
— Gridiron Grading (@GridironGrading) April 27, 2024
The Bengals draft slot corner/safety Daijahn Anthony. He has played corner, safety and nickel. He broke up 11 passes last year. He has 32 1/2 inch arms and gives them more versatility.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) April 27, 2024
The teammate trend continues as the #Bengals select Ole Miss safety Daijahn Anthony.
This is the 6th time in the last 8 drafts they’ve selected college teammates and 16th in the last 26.
Only the Patriots have done it more often.

WE GOT ONE.
Miami C Matt Lee had a 2nd round grade on our board and was one of the best iOL in the class.
This is the best iOL pick they’ve made in years. He’s ready to come in and compete right away.
What a way to end the draft. LFG. https://t.co/npJcFI8ztM
