The Cincinnati Bengals will enter year two of the Joe Burrow era when they take on the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. For the first time since last November, the former No. 1 overall pick will be back on the football field.
Already, he’s vowing to give everything he has to the city of Cincinnati in 2021.
Burrow’s rookie year came to a stunning half in Week 11 when a low hit tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee. He underwent surgery and rehab, setting himself up well for a Week 1 return.
All reports indicate that Burrow has done everything that he need to do and that he’s prepared to take the field for the Bengals this Sunday. He’s already placed high expectations on himself for his second year in the NFL.
“I expect to be better. I put in a lot of work this offseason that I’m excited to show off,” Burrow said, via Ben Baby of ESPN.

Burrow went a disappointing 2-7-1 as a starter in 2020, but his lack of success was due mostly to the subpar roster around him. The 24-year-old is admirable for trying to take the blame, but those who watched him know that he wasn’t the problem with the Bengals performance.
In fact, he was one of the highlights. Burrow completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptiosn. He chipped in 142 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while also losing four fumbles.
The Bengals will hope that Burrow can protect the football a little better in 2021, but otherwise will just want to keep him on the upward trajectory that he was on before he got hurt last year. He’ll have plenty of weapons around him with Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd and rookie Ja’Marr Chase, so Cincinnati’s offensive line just has to protect him long enough to get rid of the ball.
Provided that he stays healthy and continues to gain confidence in his knee, Burrow is in for a huge year. Bengals fans will just to need to hop on for the ride.
