On paper, it won’t be an easy road for the Cincinnati Bengals now that we have hands on the official 2021 schedule.
In fact, let strength of schedule determined by last year’s records tell it, the Bengals sit tied for sixth in terms of most difficult schedules, with one being the hardest.
But wait — records from last year is a pretty flawed way of looking at this right? Indeed, given how much teams undergo change each offseason, but it sure doesn’t hurt to get a baseline idea using the metric.
One doesn’t really need records to know that playing the Los Angeles Chargers, 49ers, Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs and Browns to close the season is a brutal task. That the team plays five of its final seven at home probably won’t make that task much easier during the playoff crunch.
For now, this serves as a bit of a benchmark before we really get into the season and see how each team matches expectations. Zac Taylor’s bid to turn this thing around and get off the hot seat will need to get off to a great start before getting into that brutal stretch.
