Bengals Upset Win Could Complicate Trade Rumors

October 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Cincinnati Bengals pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season when Joe Flacco and company pulled off a surprise victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Turning the clocks back a good 10 years, the two veteran quarterbacks put up great numbers, but Cincinnati ultimately prevailed, 33-31. While this victory keeps their season alive, it could also spell the end of the Trey Hendrickson trade rumors.

Bengals Could Stop Trey Hendrickson Trade After Upset Win

The Cincinnati Bengals entered the season with a weak defense but an offense that could, on paper, keep up with any team in a shootout. Jake Browning couldn’t cut it as Joe Burrow’s replacement, but the Joe Flacco trade seems to be working out. The one-time Super Bowl MVP played as well as could be expected against the Packers last week and looked like a legitimate starting quarterback on Thursday Night Football.

Trey Hendrickson did not play in this contest, but he should be healthy for the home stretch. With seven teams making the playoffs and the AFC North relatively open, Cincinnati could push for a playoff spot if Flacco can keep this offense afloat. Joe Burrow should return in mid-December, and this team has the talent to go deep into the playoffs with him leading the offense. Making the playoffs in the first place will be an issue, but Flacco proved he can still lead a high-powered offense. Performances like this probably won’t come around too often, but he can keep the team competitive.

With this in mind, why would the Bengals trade Trey Hendrickson? While he will be a free agent after the season, he’s the team’s best defensive player, and they’ll need him if they want any chance of winning it all when Burrow returns.
