Here’s when the Bengals will be working out from May to June.
The time between the NFL Draft and the start of training camp is usually the most grueling part of the offseason for fans. Not much occurs between May, June, and the early parts of July. This was especially the case last year, when the world was still getting a grip on COVID-19.
This year, we’ll see a return to normalcy for the rest of the NFL offseason with the eventual return of in-person minicamps and OTAs. Up until May 21st, all player meetings will remain virtual, but on-field workouts can begin within the next week.
Here’s the layout of the Cincinnati Bengals’ offseason program:
Rookie Minicamp: May 14-16
This is when Ja’Marr Chase and the rest of the Bengals’ 2021 rookie class will work on the field for the first time.
OTAs: May 25-27, June 1-3, June 7-10
Cincinnati’s three OTA sessions will occur during Phase 3 of the league-wide offseason program schedule. This means that in-person meetings can be had for the first time this offseason. On-field work will remain light, and no contact drills can be conducted. These are also voluntary for players to attend. Per OverTheCap.com, eight players on the Bengals’ roster have workout bonuses in their contracts this year.
Mandatory Minicamp: June 15-17
This is when the full team will be together for the first time this year. It will still have to follow Phase 3 guidelines, though.
And training camp should begin a little over a month after mandatory minicamp!
