Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase came down with an illness late in the week, but it appears as though the surprise diagnosis will not keep him off the field in Week 6. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the former first-round pick is “slated to play on Sunday” and should be good to go as Cincinnati tries to salvage its season against the Green Bay Packers.

Ja’Marr Chase “Slated to Play” Against Packers Despite Mysterious Illness
The 2025 season has been a relatively rough one for Chase. After leading the league in touchdowns, receptions, and receiving yards in 2024, the reigning First-Team All-Pro has struggled to recapture that magic without Joe Burrow. Through five games, Chase has recorded 32 receptions for 374 yards and three touchdowns – decent numbers, but nothing close to what he did last year.
The Bengals will need Ja’Marr Chase to get over his illness and be at full strength in Week 6. The Green Bay Packers are one of the league’s most talented teams, and Cincinnati will have a new quarterback under center. Following three ineffective starts by Jake Browning, the Bengals agreed to a rare in-division trade with the Browns for quarterback Joe Flacco.
Flacco started the season under center for Cleveland but ceded the job to rookie Dillon Gabriel after a slow start. In his four starts, the former Super Bowl MVP completed 58.1% of his passes for 815 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. Interestingly enough, he defeated the Packers in Week 3 when he completed 21 of his 36 attempts for 142 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.
After a 2-0 start to the season, Cincinnati dropped three straight games with Jake Browning before turning the keys over to Flacco. Burrow might be able to return later in the season, but that will only happen if the Bengals are still in playoff contention.
