How high could they draft a running back?
The Cincinnati Bengals continue to lock in visits with players ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft and for a lot of the visits, we have seen a heavy emphasis on defensive players. With how the Bengals defense performed in 2024, that isn’t much of a surprise.
Another area they have taken a look is running back. After a visit with Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins, the Bengals appear to be taking a closer look at another Big Ten running back.
University of Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson was in Cincinnati for a visit recently. Johnson is widely considered to be one of the top running backs in the class.
In 2024 at Iowa, Johnson rushed for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns. He added two receiving touchdowns on 22 receptions and 188 yards. Depending on who’s scouting information you look at, Johnson comes in as high as the third-rated running back in the class.
While Chase Brown showed he could be the RB1 in the Bengals offense last year, the team is still doing their homework on other backs to potentially pair with him. Zach Moss is still on the roster with the newly resigned Samaje Perine, but the Bengals could opt to move on from Moss and replace him with a rookie prospect.
A better run game would certainly help the Bengals’ already potent offense, but better run blocking will help more than anything else.
