Report: Bengals “Open” to Trade Depleting Former Third Rounder

October 23, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Even though the Cincinnati Bengals are climbing themselves back in the postseason race, they’re still open to trade linebacker Logan Wilson. While defensive end Trey Hendrickson is unlikely to be a trade candidate this 2025 regular season, it might not exclude Wilson from being one of the names that could be available. Originally selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, the former linchpin standout has been falling in the depth chart despite having the most productive 2023 season. That’s all in the past for the linebacker as he hasn’t been the same since recording 135 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles through 17 games.

With a reduced even though it looked like the Bengals had a long-term commitment to him, it’s time for the two sides to move on. Wilson isn’t the most explosive trade candidate, but he has a ton of potential to become a viable defensive threat. After losing most of his starting snaps to rookie Barrett Carter, it shouldn’t be too long for Wilson to find a new team in the next few weeks. With Carter most likely the starter and due to his current rookie contract, it’s likely the Bengals are better on his future over Wilson, and these three teams may take a chance on the linebacker.

Best Possible Next Teams

Dallas Cowboys

While the Dallas Cowboys would prefer Trey Hendrickson, this might be the most logical scenario for them. Jack Sanborn and Damone Clark haven’t been able to live up to their potential since trading for Kenneth Murray Jr. this past offseason. Even though DeMarvion Overshown returned to practice, why not get Wilson in on the fun and join Shemar James to get after the quarterback? Wilson won’t be the most exciting trade acquisition, but he should be able to boost this defense in some type of fashion.

Dallas has one of the hottest offenses in today’s game, and they can’t afford to miss a step this year. The linebacker might be the missing ingredient that many fans might not want, but need to keep this defense afloat after an impressive performance against the Commanders.

Carolina Panthers

After losing Bryce Young for potentially a few weeks, it’s hard to imagine the Panthers have a chance anymore in this 2025 regular season. However, after letting go of Jadeveon Clowney and Josey Jewell, they didn’t make any immediate acquisitions in free agency. Despite that, they’ve invested in the draft, getting Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen, but they haven’t been able to establish themselves.

Wilson could receive most of the attention part of this unit if they part ways with DJ Wonnum in 2026 free agency. This would probably be the route that the Panthers take if they’re interested in rebuilding their defense after signing Tershawn Wharton last offseason.

Buffalo Bills

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills need a wakeup call after two straight losses, but that starts with their linebacker unit. With Matt Milano and Shaq Thompson not under a deal after the season, Wilson could find his role to pair with Terrel Bernard. It won’t boost their postseason chances, but it gives them extra stability for the future.
