Trey Hendrickson hold-in begins

Hendrickson appears to be taking a page from the Ja’Marr Chase playbook.

Trey Hendrickson ended his contract holdout and returned to the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday.

However, don’t expect to see Hendrickson on the practice field right away.

For now, the plan is for Hendrickson to have a hold-in, similar to what Ja’Marr Chase did while awaiting a new deal from the Bengals last year. Chase’s hold-in lasted all the way up to Week 1, though the two sides wouldn’t get a deal done until this past offseason.

By reporting to camp, Hendrickson will no longer be fined $50,000 a day by the team, even though he’s not practicing. He’s also reporting in hopes that this will help both sides bridge the gap on a contract extension, which is reportedly close to completion.

However, the guaranteed money is a major sticking point that’s become a challenging hurdle for both sides to clear.
