Will we see the talented forward make the jump to the 2026 class?
Mark Pope and his staff are starting to hone in on their top targets for the class of 2026 as official visits and list cuts begin to happen for players across the country.
That has not stopped them, though, from also getting a jump start on the class of 2027, however. With the Kentucky Wildcats already in the mix for several of the top recruits in the rising junior class, one relationship might help them sooner rather than later.
Baba Oladotun is widely considered the top player in the 2027 class, but that might not be the case for long.
Why so? Reclassification.
Rumors have been swirling around his recruitment about a potential reclass for the last few weeks, and in a recent conversation, Jacob Polacheck of KSR got a pretty direct answer about where it stands.
When talking with Baba’s father, Ibrahim, this is what he had to say regarding the reclass:
“We’re debating it, but it’s nothing guaranteed yet. Academically, it will be done, regardless of whether he’s playing basketball.”
If a reclass is to happen, it will be interesting to see where the Cats stand. With some positive momentum still happening with Tyran Stokes, would landing his commitment take Coach Pope and his staff out of this recruitment?
Only they know that answer at this point, but it will be interesting to watch moving forward.
NEW: Baba Oladotun is planning two visits as he weighs a reclassification into 2026, his father tells KSR+.
“We’re debating it, but it’s nothing guaranteed yet. Academically, it will be done, regardless of whether he’s playing basketball.”
