Every other first-round series in the NBA Playoffs is finished, except the one between the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. Following a Game 6 victory by the Clips in Dallas last night, the series will play a Game 7 on Sunday.
Yesterday, the two former Kentucky bigs, Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins both sat again and neither player has seen the court in so far in the playoffs.
The only Clipper ‘Cat that has seen action is Rajon Rondo. Yesterday wasn’t his best game as he played just 10 minutes and failed to get on the scoreboard while his only contribution to the stat sheet was one steal.
Reggie Jackson was the point guard of choice for Tyronn Lue instead of Rondo — and for good reason. Jackson popped off for 25 points on 8-15 shooting to go along with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. With Patrick Beverley benched and Rondo not playing a lot, it looks like Lue has trimmed down their point guard rotation and seems to rely heavily on Jackson or Rondo and he will play the hotter hand depending on the game.
Rondo was the only Wildcat in action last night, and he spent most of his evening watching Kawhi Leonard’s 45-point outburst carry the Clips to a Game 7 in the Staples Center.
Check that out Monday and we’ll be back with more NBA coverage tomorrow.
