Counting down the best wins of the season!

Greetings, BBN!

Time to count down the 15 best wins of the 2024-25 Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball season!

Year 1 of the Mark Pope Era was filled from start to finish with awesome victories and memorable moments that made this year one of the best in a long time in Lexington. All season long the Cats bounced back from every setback to get things rolling again and not only finish with a 24-12 record but their first Sweet 16 in six years.

Let’s roll it back and countdown the top 15 victories of the year!

Best wins of 2024-2025 season: No. 15-11

#15: LSU (3/4/25)

Couldn’t ask for a better senior night. In the toughest league in college basketball, no game is easy — even against the teams at the bottom of the standings. Thus, winning by 31 in your final home game is an awesome feeling, and it erased the sting of losing to #1 Auburn the Saturday before.

#14: Vanderbilt (2/19/25)

On January 25th, the Cats lost by five in Nashville for a second straight loss and got court-stormed for it. When the Commodores came back to Lexington a few weeks later, it was an entirely different story as UK rolled by 21 to bounce back from a loss at Texas over the weekend.

#13: #15 Missouri (3/8/25)

Another top-15 victory! No matter how many times people doubted, UK came into heavyweight fight after heavyweight fight and emerged victorious a whopping eight times against top-15 competition. They capped off with this one in the regular season finale that scored them the 6-seed in the SEC Tournament.

#12: #11 Texas A&M (1/14/25)

The Aggies came into Rupp Arena in early January 13-3 with a #11 ranking, but the Cats didn’t seem to notice as they led most of the game and won by a comfortable margin. An under-the-radar impressive victory, as A&M would go on to get a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

#11: #14 Mississippi State (1/11/25)

Of course, right before that Texas A&M win, Kentucky was trying to shake off a disappointing road loss to Georgia with this clash in Starkville. Most thought that if they couldn’t handle a road game against those Bulldogs, surely they would be in trouble against these Bulldogs, but Jaxson Robinson scored 27, and the Cats won by five in a high-scoring shootout that was thrilling to watch.
