Boogie Fland says he’s recruiting Karter Knox to Kentucky

January 15, 2024 by Zags Blog

By ADAM ZAGORIA

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Boogie Fland and his fellow Class of 2024 Kentucky commits are on a text chain where they discuss life inside and outside of basketball.

The 6-foot-2 Fland said they’re looking to add another name to the chain, too: uncommitted five-star Overtime Elite wing Karter Knox.

“Yeah, we’re trying to get Karter Knox, we’re trying to get Karter Knox,” Fland told ZAGSBLOG after scoring 17 points in a 74-67 win over Rutgers-bound Dylan Harper and Don Bosco Prep at the Hoophall Classic.

Fland’s message to Knox?

“Come on, let’s go,” Fland said. “We’ve been talking for like two months, gotta come on, man.. But we just gotta be patient, gotta let him have his journey, not trying to rush him or anything.”

The 6-foot-5 Knox, out of Atlanta, is the younger brother of former Kentucky forward Kevin Knox. He has cut his list to Kentucky, Louisville, South Florida, and G-League Ignite, and visited Louisville and Kentucky in October.

As for the game, Fland asked to guard Harper, who finished with 22 points in his third game back after missing time with a knee injury.

“Yeah, I gotta compete,” Harper said. “That’s that dog in me, I wanna compete and do what I do.”

Uncommitted wing Braylan Ritvo poured in a game-high 27 points for Stepinac in the win.

In terms of the text chain with his future Wildcats, Fland said most of the talk is not about hoops.

“Yeah, just non-basketball related,” Fland said. “If we do something basketball, it’s ‘Good job, good luck tonight, this and that, you know?”
