Will Kentucky be able to land the 5-star forward?
Mark Pope and his staff are well into summer practices with their current roster, but they are also starting to fill up their big board for recruits in the 2026 class.
With the Kentucky Wildcats being involved with several of the top players in the class, it appears they are also well involved in the recruitment of 5-star forward Christian Collins.
A top-five recruit by most services, Collins is a well-sought-after recruit. With Kentucky, Duke, Arkansas, and other fighting to land visits from the California kid, he tells Jamie Shaw of On3 that visits have not been on his radar just yet.
“I haven’t been on any visits yet, and I haven’t scheduled, or really talked with any schools about visits,” Collins said. “Kentucky came to see me, Duke came, USC, Arkansas, Oregon, Louisville, and some others have come to see me for an in-home this spring.”
That led into Shaw talking about his interest in UK. Once again, Jason Hart seemingly will play a big part in the recruitment.
“I’ve been knowing Jason Hart since I was a freshman in high school, so we’ve had that relationship. Coach (Mark) Pope was here, and was my coach during one of these sessions. So I’ve been getting to know him and I’ve learned a lot already.”
Collins also revealed that he probably won’t make a decision until the late signing period, so don’t expect him to pop anytime soon.
After being coached by Coach Pope and the U19 tryouts, you have to think that helps Kentucky’s chances as well.
This recruitment is far from over, but it appears the Cats are right in the mix to land one of the best players in the class.
