Former UK target Andrej Stojakovic is back in the transfer portal

Stojakovic averaged nearly 18 points per game this season.

As one door closes, another may have just opened.

After Lamar Wilkerson went off the board to Indiana, some wondered if the Kentucky Wildcats would be able to get one more big-time shooter out of the transfer portal to complement what looks like a roster capable of another deep postseason run.

Well, it just so happens that a very intriguing option is now back in the portal.

On Thursday, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Andrej Stojakovic was re-entering the transfer portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag, signaling he may already know his next destination. This is the second time that the son of NBA great Peja Stojakovic has gone portaling over the last years.

As a true freshman at Stanford (when they were still in the Pac-12), Stojakovic appeared in 32 games, averaging 7.8 points on 40.9% shooting, including a 32.7% clip on 3-pointers in 22.3 minutes per game. He also chipped in 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists per outing.

After entering the portal in the 2024 offseason, Mark Pope and Kentucky made a serious push for Stojakovic. However, the California native opted to stay in-state and committed to the Cal Golden Bears.

This past season, the former McDonald’s All-American appeared in 29 games, averaging 17.9 points on 42.7% shooting (31.8% from deep), 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 33.4 minutes per contest. His best game of the season saw him score 30 points (11/15 shooting) in a road loss to Clemson. He also scored 26 points (9/13 shooting) in a road loss at Missouri.

Stojakovic was in a similar situation as Jaland Lowe was a Pitt, both being quality guards on bad teams with high usage rates and not getting many quality shots, leading to below-average efficiency numbers. The hope is Lowe will flourish with a much better supporting cast in Lexington, and that would be the hope for Stojakovic if Kentucky comes calling again.

We shall see.
