Lively is challenging Shaedon Sharpe to be the No. 1 overall player in 2022.
With the fall live recruiting period starting up Thursday morning, John Calipari already has his first visit lined up, and it’s another big-time prospect in the Class of 2022.
According to Jack Pilgrim of KSR, John Calipari will be visiting five-star big man Dereck Lively II on Thursday, as he kicks off visits this week.
Kentucky will be in to see No. 2 overall prospect Dereck Lively on Thursday, his mother tells KSR.
Duke, Michigan and Penn State also scheduled to see Lively to close out the week.

Lively has a final seven of Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Penn State, Michigan, USC and Florida State. Currently, all the momentum is between the three blue-bloods in UK, Duke and UNC being the favorites with Penn State being a potential dark horse. The G-League is also pushing to jump into the mix as well.
At 7-foot-1, Lively is the definition of a modern day big. He runs the floor well in transition while also possessing some solid perimeter skills including decent ball-handling, and a solid jumper. What separates him is his ability to change the game on the defensive end of the floor. He uses his athleticism and length to alter any shot in his area, while also still putting an emphasis on going and grabbing the rebound.
Lively is a different type of player, and not one you often get the chance to coach. Calipari knows just that, and it’s why he will not be letting his foot off the gas in this recruitment, even after landing the No. 1 player in the class in Shaedon Sharpe.
Lively is currently ranked as the No. 2 overall player, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and is listed as a top-three player by every major recruiting service.
