Kenny probably shouldn’t have mentioned this one.
The Louisville Cardinals moved to 4-3 on the year as they knocked off the Bellarmine Knights at the KFC Yum! Center on Wednesday night.
One of the stars of the Cards team to this point has been freshman point-guard, Ty-Laur Johnson. The former top-100 prospect has provided a much-needed life to the team’s backcourt, but after only playing a few minutes in the first half against the Knights, many UofL fans had to be wondering what was going on.
Well, Kenny Payne gave everyone a brutally honest answer after the game.
You ready for this? I probably shouldn’t tell you this,” Payne said. “We didn’t have the tights he wanted, so he didn’t know if he wanted to play. Oh yeah, you heard it. We didn’t have the tights he wanted, that we’ve never had for him, and he decided, ‘I don’t feel like I can go.’”
He continued:
“In the second half, he accepted the fact that we didn’t have the kind of tights that we’d never had for him, and he played well.”

After making his return in the second half, he helped propel the Cards to the victory, scoring eight points and dishing out five assists.
But one thing does hold true in this whole scenario…. the former Kentucky Wildcats assistant coach should not have said a word about it.
