Both could be top-10 battles.
The Kentucky Wildcats will take on the defending national champions twice next season.
The Wildcats and Florida Gators have typically played twice in the regular season, but that changed last year, with the two teams facing off just once. That game was one of the best games of the college basketball regular season last year, with Kentucky picking up a thrilling 106-100 win in Rupp Arena.
Now, it seems like the SEC wants to see more of Kentucky and Florida facing off, as Jon Rothstein is reporting Kentucky and Florida will play twice next season.
The defending national champions look like a team ready to contend for another title next season after returning several key pieces, including big men Alex Condon, Reuben Chinyelu, and Thomas Haugh. The Gators also landed Arkansas guard Boogie Fland from the transfer portal, as well as Princeton guard Xaivian Lee. Many of the way-too-early preseason rankings have Florida as a top-five team entering next season.
However, the Gators will be without a key piece from their national championship team, guard Denzel Aberdeen, who will instead be playing for Kentucky. Aberdeen was a big piece off the bench for the Gators last season, averaging just under eight points per game. Next season, Aberdeen will get to face off against his former team twice.
Kentucky and Florida look to be among the top contenders in the SEC next season, so those two matchups should be must-see TV.
Sources: Kentucky and Florida — two of the SEC’s top brands — will meet twice during the 2025-26 regular season as part of conference play.
The two programs only played once during the regular season last year.
