Some more good news for the Bat Cats.
Nick Mingione and the Kentucky Wildcats have had a very successful offseason to this point. With a solid transfer class coming in and retaining a lot of their production from last season, things are looking strong for the 2026 season.
That makes the latest addition even more of a positive as they get some depth at the catcher position.
It’s a player that will be heading down I-64 from Jim Patterson Stadium and the Louisville Cardinals.
Tagger Tyson, a rising redshirt sophomore, took to Twitter on Saturday to announce his commitment to UK.
Tyson, a 6-foot-1 and 200-pound catcher from Mount Pleasant (SC), appeared in 33 games for Louisville this past season. Hitting .296 with an .851 OPS, Tyson drove in 14 runs in his 81 at-bats. He also added 10 doubles, a triple, and a home run.
Forced into the starting role late in the season, Tagger comes to Lexington with a chance to lock down the starting catching spot for a contending SEC team.
