Kentucky Basketball gives back in Lexington through the Hope Center

August 1, 2025 by A Sea Of Blue

UK Athletics

The UK basketball team continues to support the state of Kentucky with another act of kindness.

The Kentucky basketball team continues to make an impact off the court, most recently by serving meals at the Hope Center in Lexington.

Players and coaches spent time connecting with those in need, showing that giving back is just as important as winning games. It was a hands-on display of gratitude from the Kentucky Wildcats to the community that supports them year-round.

This act of service follows another major outreach earlier this summer. In June, before their satellite camp in London, Ky., the team spent the day supporting areas devastated by recent tornadoes.

The Wildcats didn’t just show up—they made a difference, donating furniture and presenting a $40,000 check to the Southern Kentucky Relief Fund to help those rebuilding their lives.

Coach Mark Pope has emphasized community engagement since taking over the program, and these back-to-back service events reflect that mission. Whether it’s serving food, donating funds, or offering a helping hand, Kentucky’s players are showing leadership in more ways than one.

In a summer filled with practices, recruiting, and travel, the Wildcats continue to make time for what matters most by supporting the people of Kentucky.
