Some respect.
There is not a ton of noise around the Kentucky Wildcats this fall as Mark Stoops and his staff look to right the ship after a few poor seasons.
With plenty of new faces on the roster and the fanbase curious to how this season will go, many will be shocked to see the Cats land any kind of ranking inside the top-40 of any kind of ranking.
Well, that is what has happened with the initial ESPN FPI ranking.
The FPI rankings, which take into account efficiencies across the field and predict wins and losses based on that, have the Cats ranked 34th heading into the season. They are one of three SEC teams outside of the top 25, joining Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
With an FPI score of 7.6, the metrics predict the Cats’ record at 5.6 wins and 6.4 losses, hovering right around the six-win mark. However, with how tough Kentucky’s schedule is this season, I think many of us would sign up for 6-6 or 7-5.
Let’s hope these projections hold true and the numbers help produce wins on the field.
Go Cats!
