Kentucky is the only school with multiple transfers in the top 10.
The transfer portal is full of players that are looking for a team change in their college careers.
There are currently over 1,500 players in the portal, which is more than twice the number of players that entered it last season.
Some of those 1,500 are players that also decided to put their name in the NBA Draft, as well as the transfer portal in case they decide to return to college.
The Kentucky Wildcats have been heavily involved in the transfer market, making them one of the bigger winners this offseason.
However, where do the additions of Davidson guard Kellan Grady and West Virginia center Oscar Tshiebwe rank among the other transfer portal commitments?
Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports ranked the top-10 commitments from the portal, and Kentucky is the only team with multiple commitments in the ranking.
According to Peek, the No. 1 commitment has been North Carolina transfer Walker Kessler taking his talents to Auburn.
The first Kentucky transfer comes in at No. 2 with the addition of Kellan Grady.
“Kentucky had the No. 1 recruiting class coming in last year and lost almost every single player to the NBA draft or transfer portal. What Kentucky needs is an older, experienced player who is a great playmaker and coach Cal landed exactly that in Davidson transfer Grady. The 6-foot-5 guard has been one of the most consistent players in college basketball the last four years, averaging between 17-18 points per game every season since his freshman year. He also has outside range, knocking down 61 3-pointers last season (more than any Kentucky player).”
Oscar Tshiebwe also made the top-10 as he is ranked as the No. 6 overall transfer commitment.
“Tshiebwe is a former McDonald’s All American and was one of the best rebounders in college basketball the last two seasons. The 6-foot-9 forward only played 10 games at West Virginia this year before electing to transfer. Tshiebwe will add much-needed size inside for Kentucky after it only averaged 38 rebounds per game last season.”
Kentucky has already landed two of the top transfers in America. and I would be shocked if Grady and Tshiebwe are the only two transfers taking their talents to Lexington.
When John Calipari first came to Kentucky, he dominated the recruiting boards, bringing in multiple top-10 high school recruits. Now, it looks like he is going to be doing the same thing in the transfer portal.
