Kentucky has reached out to Kiyan Anthony and will remain ‘in touch’

December 9, 2023 by Zags Blog

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Kentucky has reached out to Class of 2025 four-star guard Kiyan Anthony, son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony, and will remain “in touch.”

“They reached out but haven’t offered yet,” Kiyan told ZAGSBLOG. “They just tell me to keep going and they will be in touch.”

The news was first reported by On3.com.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari and assistant Orlando Antigua are heavily recruiting Anthony’s Long Island Lutheran teammate V.J. Edgecombe and have seen him several times in recent weeks.

A five-star prospect and projected lottery pick in 2025, Edgecombe is also being courted heavily by Duke and Baylor, among others.

Baylor head coach Scott Drew and assistant Alvin Brooks are in Columbia, SC tonight watching VJ Edgecombe and Long Island Lutheran (NY) take on Sunrise Christian (KS).

Edgecombe has taken official visits to Baylor, Florida, Kentucky, Duke and St. John’s.

Kiyan, who transferred to Long Island Lutheran from Christ the King last season, is ranked the No. 6 shooting guard in 2025, per 247Sports.com.

He has visited Florida State (Oct. 13) and his father’s alma mater Syracuse (Oct. 19).

“Their message was that ‘they are not recruiting me because of my dad, they are recruiting me because of me, because I do what I do,’” he told ZAGSBLOG of Syracuse. “Also they were just telling me how they want to play and how they see me in their system.”

Anthony is focused on his high school season with LuHi, ranked No. 1 nationally by MaxPreps, and will hold off on visits for now.

“I’m waiting until after the season to take the rest of my visits,” Kiyan said.
