Even on a day that Kentucky picked up a marquee transfer with the addition of CJ Fredrick, John Calipari is not slowing down in the transfer portal. That’s because on Wednesday night, KSR learned that Kentucky has reached out to another prominent transfer: Marcus Bagley, the younger brother of former Duke forward Marvin Bagley, who just finished his freshman season at Arizona State.
Kentucky is just one of many high-profile schools who is clearly interested in Bagley.
College hoops transfer news: Source tells me Marcus Bagley, who just finished his freshman year at Arizona State has heard from these schools:
Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, DePaul, Wazzu, Texas Tech, Oregon, SDSU, Arkansas, USC
SUPER talented wing who is also testing NBA Draft waters

Bagley is a different player from his older brother, much more of a wing at 6’8 than true low post player, but was one of the best freshmen anywhere in college hoops this season. He averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game for a disappointing Arizona State team this year, while also shooting nearly 35 percent from three-point land.
Still, based on the list above, it’s clear that if Bagley decides to stay in college hoops, he is one of the most coveted players currently available. The big question is “if” however. The source indicated that Bagley’s No. 1 focus remains the NBA Draft. In Sam Vecenie’s most recent “Big Board” the NBA Draft writer for “The Athletic” had him ranked at No. 38 overall.
If he does return to college hoops though, someone will be getting a future NBA wing and one of the best athletes in the sport of college basketball.
He ranked No. 2 on our “Big Board” of top players currently in the transfer portal which was updated earlier today.
