Kentucky point guard Jaland Lowe lasted only about 20 seconds before re-injuring his shoulder in Saturday’s game against No. 22 St. John’s in Atlanta.
Lowe looked to sustain only minor contact in the lane before walking off the court in pain.
He did return in the second half and hit a huge 3-pointer to give Kentucky a 73-57 lead. He finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in Kentucky’s 78-66 victory. SEC Preseason Player of the Year Otega Oweh went for 20 points and Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance went for 10 points and 8 boards in his first game back from ACL surgery.

The 6-foot-1 Lowe already missed six games this season due to a recurring shoulder injury, sitting out the first two exhibition games, the season opener, and a few regular season games after re-injuring his shoulder in practice in mid-November. He is averaging 5.8 points and 3.0 assists.
“What we just saw is going to be a change in Kentucky’s season,” former Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said on CBS. “They don’t have a backup point guard.
“All their guards like [Jasper] Johnson and [Denzel] Aberdeen are better scorers than they are point guards.”
