Kentucky is turning to the son of an NFL Hall of Famer in the 2027 class. Charles Woodson Jr., son of former NFL cornerback Charles Woodson, announced an offer from Kentucky on Friday.
The 5-foot-11, 155-pound safety from Lake Nona (Orlando, FL) is ranked as the No. 24 safety and the No. 232 overall player in the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking. Woodson is ranked by On3 as the No. 49 safety and the No. 48 overall player from the state of Florida.
Woodson’s offer sheet is quickly starting to grow. He already holds offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Delaware, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Michigan, and Sacramento State.
“Charles is an exceptional talent with the instincts and skills that set him apart on the field,” Lake Nona head coach David Aubrey told On3 in January. “His ability to play downhill with intensity, combined with his range to cover sideline to sideline, makes him a versatile and impactful player. His football IQ, undoubtedly influenced by his lineage from the legendary Charles Woodson, shines through in his understanding of the game. With his natural ability, work ethic, and eagerness to grow, his potential is limitless. It’s exciting to see how he continues to develop as a cornerstone of our program.”
His Father’s Hall of Fame Career
Charles Woodson had a historic career at the collegiate and professional levels. He won the 1997 Heisman Trophy with Michigan after playing both wide receiver and cornerback with the Wolverines.
Woodson went on to play 18 years in the NFL. He was a member of the Green Bay Packers’ 2010 win in Super Bowl XLV. He led the NFL in interceptions twice and was named defensive player of the year in 2009.
Woodson is tied for the most defensive touchdowns in NFL history. He is second in interceptions returned for a touchdown.
