Kentucky target Tay Kinney locks in two more official visits

With plans of making a college decision before the upcoming season begins, Tay Kinney is getting in as many visits as he can.

After coming to Kentucky in late June for his official visit, Kinney has scheduled two more OVs, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The 6-foot-2 point guard will reportedly make trips to Indiana (August 29-31) and Texas (September 12-14). He also has a previously scheduled visit to Oregon set for the first weekend of September. Along with UK, Kinney recently went on official visits to Louisville and Purdue.

Kinney, who hails from the Bluegrass State, is considered a four-star recruit and the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Kentucky was once viewed as one of the frontrunners to land Kinney, but new programs have continued to join the race and make a push in recent weeks/months. Now, the list of top contenders has become cloudier. UConn, Arkansas, and Kansas, among others, are also recruiting the talented rising school senior.

“It’s going to be where I’m most comfortable,” Kinney told KSR last month. “It’s where I feel I can go in there and they put the ball in my hands as a freshman and I’m able to go out and perform my best to get to the next level.”

We’re coming down the home stretch of Kinney’s recruitment. Mark Pope and Kentucky have made a strong pitch and have a desire to keep in-state talent, but will it ultimately be enough with more visits on the way?
