Swords, ranked No. 9 nationally, commits to Kentucky over powerhouse programs.
Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball program continue to build a strong future by landing a commitment from Savvy Swords, a 5-star small forward in the class of 2026.
Swords, a 6-foot-1 standout from Glen Head, New York, is ranked No. 9 nationally in the 2026 class by On3. She chose Kentucky over an impressive final list that included Notre Dame, Michigan, South Carolina, and UCLA. Her addition gives Kentucky one of the most versatile and competitive wings in the class.
Swords brings a tough, well-rounded game to the floor. She’s a tenacious defender who thrives in the passing lanes and causes problems with her length and anticipation. On the offensive end, she has a smooth 3-point shot and doesn’t hesitate to pull up from deep. She also knows how to attack the rim and finish through contact, making her a constant scoring threat.
She’s especially gritty on the glass, particularly on the offensive end, where she crashes hard and capitalizes on second-chance points. Her ability to do the dirty work and compete with physicality will make her ready for the SEC.
While she still has room to grow in areas like ball-handling and offensive playmaking, Swords is just entering her senior year of high school and will have time to sharpen her skills before arriving in Lexington. Under Coach Brooks and his staff, she’s expected to thrive.
Swords joins fellow Class of 2026 4-star point guard Maddyn Greenway, a 5-foot-8 floor general who committed to Kentucky back in November 2024. Together, Swords and Greenway give the Wildcats one of the most exciting young duos in the country.
