Brea’s 3-point shooting could translate well to the NBA.
The deadline for players in the NBA Draft process while still maintaining their collegiate eligibility is next Wednesday.
We will find out then, if not sooner, if Otega Oweh, Kentucky’s leading scorer last season, will return to the Kentucky Wildcats to play next season.
However, there are other Wildcats in the NBA Draft process worth keeping an eye on. One of those players is Koby Brea.
Yahoo! Sports’s Kevin O’Connor recently revealed the 2.0 Edition of his NBA Mock Draft. In it, he has Brea going 34th overall to the Charlotte Hornets. The projection has Oweh going undrafted.
On Brea, O’Connor writes: “Another shooter here for Charlotte. Brea projects as a shooting specialist who has a clear path to becoming a rotation player because of his highly sought after skill. But in order to avoid being a weak link on defense, he’ll need to make improvements to his athleticism.”
In an era where 3-point shooting is prevalent in the NBA, Brea could fit right in. In his lone season with the Wildcats, Brea averaged a career-high 11.6 points while shooting 47 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from 3-point range.
Playing with the Dayton Flyers in 2023-24, Brea led the country, shooting 49.8% from 3-point range.
Wherever Brea goes, he will bring depth as a 3-point shooter. In this era of the NBA, you can never have too much depth.
