Things are supposed to slow down around these parts during the month of July. The Kentucky football recruiting staff didn’t get that memo.
After finishing June with six commitments in 10 days, the Wildcats stayed hot with a monumental flip. Danairius Gray was committed to Auburn for 18 months. On Tuesday, he shared that he will be a Kentucky Wildcat.
“I’m just trusting in the process that I’m going to see the field early,” Gray told Rivals. “That’s really the main thing. I want to go where I’m needed. With Kentucky, they want to play young guys. We’ve seen them get young guys out there, like Hardley Gilmore.”
That bolded statement was the same one Gray shared on social media during his official visit to Lexington in early June. He also took trips to Ole Miss, N.C. State, and Washington, but the Cats were able to close the deal for the four-star talent who’s ranked No. 302 overall, making him the highest-ranked player in the Wildcats’ 2026 recruiting class.
A South Florida native, Gray plays for the prolific prep school, Chaminade-Madonna. His tape is impressive, particularly in the red zone, where he shows exceptional route-running and a wide catch radius.
It’s another impressive recruiting win for L’Damian Washington. Following Vince Marrow’s departure, Big Blue Nation wondered who had the recruiting chops to bring quality players to Kentucky. LD has four significant wins and has carved out a place in Texas for the Cats as Mark Stoops’ closer.
More Kentucky Football Recruiting Talk on 11 Personnel
It’s been a big few weeks for the Kentucky football program, and it could get even better if Matt Ponatoski publicly pledges his allegiance to Big Blue Nation. This evening we’re breaking it all down a special edition of 11 Personnel. Rivals and On3 have joined forces, which is why Justin Rowland will join me and Adam Luckett to dish on the recruiting wins and what it means for Mark Stoops. We’re going LIVE on the KSR YouTube Channel at 8 PM ET.
Jasper Johnson’s Best Performance in Switzerland
Jasper Johnson saved his best performance for the last game of the group stage in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland. The Kentucky native knocked down 3-5 three-pointers to score 11 points in just 11 minutes of action in Team USA’s 129-70 win over Cameroon. One of those threes he created all by himself, stripping a defender before draining one from downtown in transition.
He won’t have to wait long to get back on the court. Team USA enters the knockout stage in the round of 16. It all starts at 11:15 AM ET against Jordan.
Jaxson Robinson Finally Finds an NBA Home
It didn’t make sense. Jaxson Robinson was ranked as the No. 65 prospect in the NBA Draft. He was one of the best available players remaining at the end of the second round, and yet for days we heard nothing about his NBA future. Finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers called.
Robinson inked an Exhibit-10 contract to earn a spot with the Cavs’ NBA Summer League team. Hopefully, that wrist injury was just a small setback on his path to glory in the NBA.
Kentucky Changes Ticket Policies
July 1 marked the beginning of the revenue-sharing era in college athletics. In order to pay student-athletes more than $20 million a year, changes needed to be made to balance the budget. We learned the first big change for Kentucky fans on Tuesday.
Kentucky is phasing out employee discounts for season tickets to men’s basketball and football games. They’re also changing the child ticket policy, removing the “lap ticket” option. That’s just a short list of the detailed changes, but they are necessary ones to ensure Kentucky can keep up with the Joneses in the revenue-sharing era.
A Former Kentucky Wildcat in Action at Wimbledon
Gab Diallo was dominant in his first Wimbledon victory. The former Kentucky Wildcat from Canada took down Daniel Altmaier in straight sets (6-1, 6-2, 6-4) to advance to the second round. He’s a +250 underdog against Taylor Fritz, the American who is the fifth-ranked player in the world. Can he pull off the upset? The match begins at 10:50 AM ET.
Red Panda Takes a Tumble
The unthinkable has happened. The most dominant force in basketball halftime entertainment suffered a shocking setback. Red Panda has been flipping bowls onto her head from the perch of an oversized unicycle since 1993. Last night during a performance at a WNBA game, she didn’t just miss the final flip, she fell off her unicycle. Hopefully, this is just a minor setback for a major comeback.
