Good morning, friends of KentuckySportsRadio.com. Today, we are reacting to a wild night in the NBA and other sports headlines from Wednesday, while looking forward to what’s ahead today and into the weekend. Unless you’re busy conclaving in the Vatican, where there was black smoke this morning, then join KSR for a Thursday morning rundown of things to know. Go Cats.
KAT and the Knicks did it again
Last night, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks came back from a 20-point deficit to beat the Celtics in Boston. New York thrillingly stole Game 2 with a second improbable comeback in a row, taking a 2-0 lead in the series against the East’s No. 1 seed and the NBA’s defending champ.
Towns finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds in the shocking win. Mikal Bridges fueled the fourth-quarter comeback with 14 points, all in the fourth, then made the game-winning steal just as he did in Game 1.
The teams now head to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander broke a playoff record in OKC’s win
In the second Wednesday night NBA game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cason Wallace helped pile on Jamal Murray and the Nuggets for a Game 2 win. Down one game to the Nuggets, Oklahoma City scored 149 points to even the series at 1-1.
Gilgeous-Alexander set a new playoff record with a +51 in the +/- column, scoring 33 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field. Wallace had eight points off the bench in the W, while Murray scored 14 in the losing effort.
Game 3 is in Denver on Friday night.
Watch Minnesota vs. Golden State Game 2 tonight
There is only one NBA game on tonight’s playoff schedule. It’s Game 2 in Minnesota, where the Golden State Warriors have an early one-game lead on the Timberwolves in the West semifinals. Former Wildcats Julius Randle and Rob Dillingham hope to even the series before heading out West for Games 3 and 4. It helps their chances that Golden State is without Steph Curry, who is expected to be out at least a week with a hamstring injury suffered early in Game 1. Watch Game 2 at 8:30 p.m. tonight on TNT. Minnesota is a 10.5-point favorite.
The November date for Kentucky vs. Louisville is still dumb
After sleeping on it, emotions have not changed around Louisville scheduling the annual basketball game with Kentucky for November 11 this upcoming season. Still dumb and bad for the rivalry game. Everyone agrees.

Kentucky Football added an offensive lineman out of the portal
While fans reacted to the date for the Kentucky-Louisville basketball game, which is dumb, news broke that Kentucky Football added a new offensive lineman from the spring transfer portal. Cameron Jones from James Madison is the newest Wildcat. The 6-foot-6, 330-pound tackle moves to Lexington after two seasons at James Madison, one as a redshirt and another with only one game played in 2024. Jones visited UK last weekend and then decided it is where he wants to continue his college football career, which has three years remaining on its eligibility clock.

Known as the ass-kicker by 11 Personnel, UK tight end Josh Kattus is showing off his footwork off the field as a contestant in Dancing With The Lexington Stars. Kattus and his dancing partner, Allison Fliehman from Clark’s Pump-N-Shop, are helping raise money for the Lexington Rotary Club at the event coming up this weekend. You can place a vote for Josh and Allison here with a small donation to the cause. Former UK basketball player Todd Ziegler is also a contestant with his wife Karen, a former UK cheerleader.

Kentucky Baseball begins its final home SEC series tomorrow
It’s almost postseason time in college baseball. Tomorrow, Kentucky (25-20, 10-14) begins its final home SEC series, hosting No. 14 Oklahoma (32-14, 13-11) at Kentucky Proud Park. The first of the three games starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, leading off a pivotal series for Kentucky as the Wildcats aim to get off the NCAA Tournament bubble. Baseball America named Kentucky one of the Last Four Out yesterday. Still, a strong finish to the season can put Kentucky into the tournament field.

KSR extends Happy Birthday wishes to Heshimu Evans, J.P. Blevins, Jarrod Polson, Jacob Toppin, and Adou Thiero today. Be sure to give them a big Happy Birthday if you see them around.
