The Aggies land a former top-10 prospect who Kentucky had previously shown interest in.
The Kentucky Wildcats are looking to piece together some key transfer additions this offseason to help Mark Pope and his staff make some noise in the 2025-26 season.
For a time, Kentucky was a major suitor for Indiana Hoosiers transfer Mackenzie Mgbako, who even took a visit to Lexington. However, things died down on the front once the visit ended, while Kentucky took commitments from Mo Dioubate and Andrija Jelavic to bolster the 4 spot.
Now, Mgbako has found his next home, and it will be within the SEC at Texas A&M, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.
A 6-foot-9 and 222-pound forward from Gladstone (NJ), Mgbako is likely a familiar name to the fanbase. Originally a 5-star prospect in the class of 2023, Mgbako picked up an offer from John Calipari at the time as he tried to lure him away from Duke. Ultimately, he landed in Bloomington for the last two seasons, playing for Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers.
This past season, Mgbako averaged 12.2 points on 44% shooting and 33% from deep. He also added 4.6 rebounds and just over one assist per game.
Kentucky is looking to add at least one more player to its 2025-26 roster, preferably a shooting guard.
