“I know a lot of his heart is back here at Kentucky.”
With much of the Kentucky Wildcats’ roster set, all eyes are currently on Otega Oweh as he tests the NBA Draft process.
While the expectation is still that Oweh will ultimately return to Kentucky, it’s never a 100% lock until he officially withdraws, and the deadline to do so is still a ways away on May 28th.
On Wednesday, we got a brief update on Oweh from head coach Mark Pope during an appearance on Jon Rothstein’s podcast.
Let’s just say Pope is hopeful that Oweh returns and is a major player in college basketball next season.
“Otega is going through this draft process, and we’re cheering for him every step of the way, but I know a lot of his heart is back here at Kentucky,” said Pope. “If he does return, he’ll probably return as the presumptive SEC Player of the Year favorite, and clearly, he’s got a beautiful future ahead of him.”
If Oweh returns, there’s a chance he’ll be on some preseason All-American teams and, as Pope said, could be the Preseason SEC Player of the Year.
