The Tulane transfer is shining this summer and has impressed Pope.

Although everyone is gearing up for football season, Kentucky Wildcats fans will be even more excited for basketball season as year two of the Mark Pope era is a few months away.

Pope and his staff have worked incredibly hard to assemble an entirely new roster for the new season, and it looks promising.

Pope recently met with local media and answered a bunch of questions, but had some eye-popping comments about Tulane transfer Kam Williams.

Williams is a high-potential ‘three and D’ player and has impressed Pope from a coaching perspective.

“I’m really proud of Kam, especially to be a new guy in the program and come here, and it’s unbelievable when you get to coach a guy where you tell him, ‘We need you to do this every single time,’ and he does it every single time,” Pope stated.

“That gives us a chance to be differentiated from every other team in college basketball, and he’s embraced that.”

The 6-foot-8 guard averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game last season for Tulane.

Williams also shot 41.2% from beyond the arc, and that will help him fit right into the Pope offense in Lexington.
