The Michigan transfer is one of Kentucky’s top transfer targets.
One of the Kentucky Wildcats’ top targets in the transfer portal is on campus in Lexington.
DJ Waller Jr., a transfer target from the University of Michigan, began his official visit to Kentucky this weekend, according to KSR, with the Cats looking to secure a commitment from the talented defensive back.
Waller had a solid season as a freshman at Michigan this past season, earning Michigan Freshman Defensive Player of the Week honors five times, and likely would’ve played a key role on the Wolverine defense this coming season.
Vince Marrow was the lead recruiter for Waller, a Youngstown native coming out of high school, but ultimately, Steve Clinkscale was able to secure a commitment from Waller at Michigan just ahead of the early signing period. Clinkscale ended up following Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers a few months ago.
If Kentucky can land Waller, that would give the Cats a strong duo at the cornerback position, with Maxwell Hairston playing the other corner spot after coming off a strong sophomore season where he recorded five interceptions and 66 total tackles.
Kentucky seems to be in a really good spot with this recruitment, so let’s see how this visit goes.
