The versatile transfer aims to be an impact player this fall.
If you’ve followed University of Kentucky basketball content this summer, you’ve undoubtedly come across a photo or video of Mo Dioubate sporting a huge smile on his face.
The Alabama Crimson Tide transfer has been very candid about his excitement to be a part of this program and chase UK’s ninth title.
Dioubate recently spoke with Maggie Davis from BBN Tonight and emphasized his appreciation for wearing the Wildcats jersey across his chest.
“Since I was a kid, Kentucky was my dream school. A lot of people don’t know that. Kentucky was my dream school. To wear the jersey and to play with it, it’s like the best thing that could’ve happened to me, so far in my life,” he said.
It’s one thing to feel that you’ve achieved a goal in your athletic career, but it’s even more special to think about what this means to the Queens, NY native on a personal level.
With his spirit, athleticism, and versatility, Mo Dioubate has all the makings to become a fan favorite in the Commonwealth.
The general consensus is that he’s just scratching the surface of what he’s capable of. The move from Tuscaloosa to Lexington could allow for more opportunities for the 6-7 wing to showcase his blossoming offensive skill set. Most anticipate more shots from long range in his future after only attempting 26 threes a year ago.
“I just gotta keep working and give him the trust for me to keep doing that every game. That’s going to bring my game to a different level that nobody’s seen so far.” Dioubate said.
Mark Pope assembled this roster and included him for a reason. By all indications, Mo Dioubate will be coachable and prepared come this fall.
