What a ride it was for Kentucky Wildcat golfer Jensen Castle this weekend at the US Women Amateur Championship.
On Saturday, Castle escaped an early exit en route to her title as current NCAA Champion and No. 2 amateur Rachel Heck missed a four-foot par putt on 18 to eliminate Castle from the competition.
“I couldn’t believe she missed it on 18. When I knew she gave me that opportunity I was like, ‘All right, I birdied this earlier, I’m going to I birdie this again,’ and I went after it. Knew the same wind direction and everything,” said Castle.
After defeating Heck in a playoff, Castle became the first Wildcat to ever reach the US Am Championship Match. Castle was in line to face Arizona’s Yu-Chiang and somewhat of an underdog as the No. 63 seed coming into the championship.

As the two competitors battled back and forth, Castle came out on top after sinking a 10-foot birdie putt on the 35th hole Sunday vs. Arizona’s Yu-Chiang 2 and 1 on Sunday to claim the US Women’s Amateur Championship title.

With the win, Castle clinched a spot on the eight-woman 2021 USA Curtis Cup Team that will face Great Britain and Ireland in Wales August 26th-28th. She’s also now exempt for the next 10 U.S. Women’s Amateurs and earned invitations to both the 2021 Women’s British Open as well as the 2022 August National Women’s Amateur. By making Sunday’s finals, Castle clinched a spot in next year’s U.S. Women’s Open after qualifying as an amateur this year.

How is Isaiah Thomas not in the NBA?
Is there any real shot Kentucky could emerge into the Top-12 Rankings this year?
Still rocking out at 41 years old.
Who else can’t wait for the start of the season?
Will Baker receive a massive extension of his own?
It all starts in the trenches.
Where does he go down on your all-time rankings?
It came down to the wire for Team USA.
Disgusting — this has to stop.
