Monday Headlines: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Earns First NBA Finals Win

OKC wasn’t going to let Game 2 slip away.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder earned their first win of this year’s NBA Finals last night following their 123-107 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

For SGA, it was the first Finals win of his career and his fingerprints were all over it.

This year’s MVP finished with 34 points, eight assists, five rebounds, four steals and a block.

He’s scored a total of 72 points over his first two NBA Finals games, which is a record for any player’s first two career games in the Finals.

It’s clear the Pacers haven’t been able to find an answer for SGA but that doesn’t mean they won’t stop trying. Indy head coach Rick Carlisle is historically known for his game-by-game adjustments and one can only imagine he’s getting tired of seeing SGA continuously score the basketball at such a high rate.

The Thunder finish their first two home games of the series with a 1-1 split and will now head to Indianapolis for the Pacers’ two game home stand.

OKC — and especially SGA — will need to keep their foot on the gas if they hope to regain control of this series.

Game three is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8:30 PM ET with coverage on ABC.
