SGA and Cason Wallace are NBA Champions.
It was quite the rollercoaster on Sunday night for all NBA fans as they watched Game 7 of the NBA Finals, where the Oklahoma City Thunder held off the feisty Indiana Pacers, 103-91, for their first NBA title since the franchise moved from Seattle.
Leading the way was former Kentucky Wildcats star and recently recognized MVP — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — as he recorded 29 points and 12 assists while committing just one turnover.
Defensive menace Cason Wallace — also a former Wildcat — played one of his better games of the series with 26 minutes of full-court defense (leading to three steals early on) while contributing 10 points on offense.
Sunday night’s win was really a team effort by Oklahoma City and a rewarding finish to what has been such an incredible season for the young Thunder. With a nucleus that is set to be intact for next season, their odds of repeating as NBA champions should be rather high.
Join us in congratulating SGA, Wallace and the rest of the Thunder players as well as their coaches and administration for a job well-done!
As for the Pacers, they lost star point guard Tyrese Haliburton early in the game to an Achilles injury that silenced the entire arena. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and the entire Pacers organization.
