Another addition to Kenny Brooks’ first Kentucky team.
Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky Wildcats are on the board again!
After landing international recruit Clara Silva on Sunday, Kentucky scored a pledge from North Carolina Tar Heels transfer Teonni Key on Monday.
Key announced the news on her Instagram page.
A product of Cary High School in North Carolina, Key entered college with a world of potential, finishing ninth overall in the ESPN class of 2021 rankings. Sadly, she suffered a torn ACL in a preseason scrimmage that wiped out her freshman season.
As a redshirt freshman in 2022-23, the 6-foot-4 Key appeared in 28 games (one start) while averaging 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game.
This past season, Key averaged 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.4 minutes of action across 23 games.
When she signed with North Carolina, Key was also considering Kentucky, so she’ll ultimately land in Lexington after all. She held additional offers from UConn, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Tennessee, among others. She’ll now look to really kick her college career into gear under Coach Brooks.
Welcome to the Bluegrass! You can see some highlights of her below (No. 13).
