Kentucky fans are hoping Oweh returns for the 2025-26 season.
The deadline for NBA prospects to decide whether to stay in the NBA Draft process or go back to school is May 28th, just over three weeks away.
Kentucky Wildcats guard Otega Oweh is currently testing the waters of the draft process, and Kentucky fans are hoping he will return for the 2025-26 season. If he does, Kentucky is an instant national championship contender.
Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman recently unveiled his mock draft that has Oweh going 59th overall to the Houston Rockets. That’s the last pick in this year’s draft. While it would be nice to be drafted, this would be a far cry from what Oweh is reportedly hoping for in order to stay in the draft.
KSR has reported that “The word going around is Oweh will only stick in the NBA Draft if he can earn a first-round guarantee.”
Bleacher Report is the only outlet that has Oweh being selected in any mock draft, so that should make Wildcats fans more hopeful that he will return for next season.
Oweh is coming off a terrific first season in Lexington. He led the team in scoring and minutes per game. He hit two memorable game-winners against Oklahoma, including a runner just before time expired in the Second Round of the SEC Tournament.
If Oweh returns, Kentucky’s roster would make it one of the favorites to win the National Championship. Mark Pope has done a phenomenal job in the transfer portal this offseason, and Oweh’s return would only add to what’s already been a tremendous offseason for Kentucky.
