Cats vs. Dawgs for this big-time transfer.
The Kentucky Wildcats are still in the hunt for Peny Boone, but they have some serious competition for the talented running back.
According to On3 reporter Pete Nakos, Boone now has two schools in consideration: Kentucky and Georgia. That means a return to the Louisville Cardinals is off the table.
This news comes after Boone completed a visit to Kentucky.
It’s no secret that Georgia has become one of the premier programs in college football. Since 2017, the Dawgs have had three appearances in the College Football Playoff, winning two of them in 2021 and ‘22. They’ve also gone 42-2 over the past three seasons, including a 24-0 mark in regular-season SEC games.
Oh, and they’ve also won 14 straight games vs. the Cats.
One thing Kentucky has done about as well as Georgia is producing running backs, so it’s no surprise to see one of the best transfer backs having the Wildcats among his finalists.
It also helps that, outside of former Ohio State backup Chip Trayanum, there isn’t a proven in-between-the-tackles back on the roster. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye is a solid pass-catching back, but he’s not getting 15+ touches a game running up the middle against SEC defenses.
For what it’s worth, Dawgs HQ reporter Rusty Mansell does not see Boone picking Georgia.
Come on down?!
Not expecting him in #Athens https://t.co/mk6Bf00ubi
