There it is.
After a strong showing at the Adidas 3SSB event in Birmingham this week, Reed Sheppard has finally scored a scholarship offer from the Kentucky Wildcats. He announced the news Friday evening.
John Calipari and his entire staff watched Sheppard during Thursday’s action, while Orlando Antigua watched the four-star recruit today. Antigua has been the primary coach in contact with Sheppard since recruiting restrictions with 2023 prospects were lifted in June.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Sheppard has burst onto the national recruiting scene over the last year after putting up huge numbers in his sophomore campaign. Along with being the son of former Kentucky stars Jeff Sheppard and Stacey Reed, he’s already one of the biggest legacy recruits for Kentucky basketball ever.
Already ranked as high as 39th nationally by Rivals, it’s not crazy to think Sheppard could eventually reach five-star status if he keeps up his current pace. Rivals reporter Travis Graf offered up some strong praise for Sheppard during a Friday outing.
Reed Sheppard is having one of the best halves of anyone I’ve seen this weekend.
Nailing threes, scoring in transition, showed off a nice pull-up. #3SSB

Now that Sheppard has an offer, it will be interesting to see how his recruitment shakes out, especially since he’s a Class of 2023 recruit and two years away from being on a college campus. You have to think Kentucky is in a great spot, but Louisville and other Power 5 programs are in pursuit as well.
Sheppard has previously said he wants to go, “Somewhere that feels like family, feels like home. Somewhere that feels like home and where my teammates around me feel like family and friends,” he told KSR in June.
