SGA and the Thunder find themselves trailing in the series again
It was a tough night for former Kentucky Wildcats Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Cason Wallace, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, as the Indiana Pacers picked up a 116-107 victory to gain a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals.
SGA finished the night with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocked shots. However, he did turn the ball over 6 times, the most turnovers he’s had in a game during the playoffs.
Wallace added 7 points and 4 rebounds, along with an assist, block, and steal.
It’s a tough spot for the Thunder, with a pivotal game 4 in Indianapolis coming up on Friday. When the Finals have been tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 has gone on to win the series 33 of 41 times.
However, we shouldn’t totally discount the Thunder yet. OKC went down 2-1 against the Denver Nuggets in the conference semifinals but came back to win the series in 7 games.
And if you’re rooting for the Thunder and looking for reasons for optimism, the Bucks came back from down 2-1 in the Finals in 2021 to win, and the Warriors did the same in 2022.
The Thunder entered the series as the heavy favorite to win, but last night’s loss puts them into a tough spot.
Can SGA and OKC respond in a big way in Game 4?
