Good morning from lovely Paducah, Kentucky, where right now I am working from a corner bedroom of a rental home while listening to snoring from my colleagues as they rest up for KSR’s Shots Across The Bluegrass Tour. It’s great to be back on the road again.
Before we hop on the airwaves in about an hour for two hours of KSR radio from downtown Paducah, let’s go over some of the topics that are fresh on Kentucky fans’ minds today. We have a little football talk, some recruiting #scoop, other randomness, and we’re popping champagne because a KSR writer received a big trophy last night. Shall we get right to it?
A KSR writer won a real life Emmy.
First and foremost, everyone please join me in congratulating our own Ty Schadt on winning a national sports Emmy for work he did with NFL Films on “The Lumberman Quarterback.” Ty took home the hardware for “Outstanding Writing – Long Form” by beating out a star-studded list of nominees, including HBO’s Hard Knocks and Inside The NFL. You’ve heard of those.
See Ty’s work below and congratulate him on Twitter or on his next KSR post if you get a chance.
Jack + Zack caught up with Jalen Duren.
We sent the recruiting team of Jack Pilgrim and Zack Geoghegan out to Las Vegas for the 2021 Pangos All-American Camp and the boys have been handing out UK recruiting content like Vegas street promoters hand out business cards. In their most recent reporting from the Pangos scene, they sat down with Jalen Duren, the No. 2 player in all of America in the Class of 2022, to get a feel for Duren’s interest in Kentucky and where he stands in his recruitment at this stage in the process. You can read the Duren interview here. If you’re learning of KSR’s Vegas recruiting coverage for the first time, I’ll direct you to all of Jack and Zack’s work right here, where you can read up on all of the recruiting buzz from one of the first major basketball events since the reopening of the world.
UK Basketball’s new “Laying The Foundation” video is electric.
Rob Harris has the guys training for the redemption tour later this year, and the video team shared a behind-the-scenes look at the grind.
Tonight in the NBA:
In tonight’s only NBA Playoff game, Devin Booker will try to go up 2-0 on Jamal Murray’s Denver Nuggets in the West’s semifinal round. Murray is of course out for the year so we’re Suns fans in the 9:30 p.m. game on TNT.
The big question beforehand is, what car will Booker show up in?

There is a new KSR Football Podcast.
With so many football things happening in a normally quiet time for the program, we got the band back together for a KSR Football Podcast to break down the QB speculation, the Sunday Showcase camp, the alumni scramble for John Schlarman, who we’d want on a UK Football scramble team, and more. You can find the new episode right here.
Today’s KSR radio show is at the Carson Center.
We’re downtown along the Ohio River at Paducah’s Carson Center for today’s show. Part of the Shots Across The Bluegrass tour, you can come out and get the vaccine while Ryan Lemond breaks down everything going on in the world. Should be a good time.
