Patience is a virtue the Big Blue Nation is learning this spring. Nearing the two-month anniversary of the end of the Wildcats’ sad 2021 season, we still don’t have a much clearer picture of what the 2022 team will look like.
There has been offseason turnover, maybe more than normal. Joel Justus and Tony Barbee are out. Chin Coleman and Orlando Antigua are supposed to be in, but it’s been almost two weeks since that news initially surfaced. Since then we’ve received a slow drip of reports that seemingly confirms the news without actually confirming the news. Maybe today will finally be the day UK makes the additions official? Maybe not.
We did learn on Monday that Davion Mintz has declared for the draft. But he could also return, leaving the door open by not signing an agent. Similar to the assistant coaches, the latest Mintz development is news, it just means nothing new for next season.
Before the Cats play another basketball game, we’ll keep playing the waiting game for the foreseeable future.
Another Portal Player
While we play the waiting game, everyday another new player joins the lengthy list of potential suitors for the Cats. The latest is Syracuse’s Quincy Guerrier. A 6-foot-7 forward, last year he averaged 13.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest, along with shooting 49.3% from the field overall and 31.1% from three.
Kansas Football is BACK
After years and years and years and years and years and years and years of living in the Power Five football gutter, the new administration at Kansas has finally brought a piece of hardware back to the football locker room. This is how the Jayhawks celebrated a spring game victory: with an 18-foot trophy.

Save the jokes. Football is supposed to be fun and they definitely did that his spring in Lawrence.
A Stupid Stat Line
Oscar Robertson was the king of absurd stat lines. “How did he have 27 rebounds and only 11 points?” Wes Unseld and Dennis Rodman dabbled in those obscene box scores as well. Last night a point guard provided a Big O-like silly stat line. Russell Westbrook scored 14 points, grabbed 21 rebounds and dished out 24 assists in the Wizards’ 154-141 win over the Pacers. First, how? Second, the Wizards — when did that happen?
Shohei Ohtani isn’t Human
Baseball rarely is a blip on my radar. Ohtani is an exception to that rule. The man is making Major League Baseball fun by treating it like Little League. Who makes plays like this? Nobody. Absolutely nuts.

White Castle Caused Chaos in Florida
White Castle returned to the Sunshine State for the first time in 58 years on Monday. They opened with a bang, building the world’s largest White Castle and causing the world’s largest traffic jam. People waited for hours to get their hands on a juicy burger, limited to 60 per car. In other news, Pepto Bismol sales in Orlando have skyrocketed.
