Perry is drawing heavy interest from major programs.
Numerous teams are interested in guard Travis Perry, who was one of the most accomplished high school players in Kentucky history.
Perry, who was a star at Lyon County, played a role for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats this past season, but with numerous high-profile transfer players coming in, he made the decision, at the last second, to put his name in the portal.
Several SEC teams are interested in the former four-star guard, and Ole Miss is one of them. The Rebels were one of the unsuspecting teams to make a run in the NCAA Tournament this past season and are led by Chris Beard.
Beard is planning an in-home visit for Perry per On3’s Ben Garrett, which clearly shows how much he wants the guard at his program. He’s looking to meet with Perry seemingly as soon as possible.
In addition, KSR’s Jack Pilgrim now reports that Perry will have an official visit with the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday. Former Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams recently left the SEC and is now leading the charge for the Terrapins, so he’s familiar with what Perry brings to the table.
Perry, who was the best player from the state of Kentucky in last season’s class, saw time in 31 games, scoring 2.7 points per game. He only played in 9.7 minutes per game, so he’ll likely look for a program to give him more of an opportunity than he saw behind Lamont Butler and Otega Oweh.
The Wildcats reloaded with Jaland Lowe and have 5-star guard Jasper Johnson joining the program as well. With Beard and Williams making a clear push for the former Kentucky guard, it’s clear that Perry is a hot commodity in the transfer portal now that many of the top prospects are off the board.
