Kentucky is bringing 24 of the best track and field athletes in America to the University of Oregon this week to compete in the 2021 NCAA Championships.
The action begins Wednesday with two members of the ninth-ranked men’s team competing in field events, Keaton Daniel in the pole vault and Trey Causey III in the long jump. Seven others will race in sprinting track events, led by Lance Lang who ranks No. 4 nationally in the 100-meter dash and No. 8 in the 200m. Charles Lenford Jr. and Josh Sobota will throw discus on Friday for the Cats.
The women’s team, ranked No. 19 in the country, will have 11 entries compete Thursday and Saturday. Molly Leppelmeier will be in the finals of the hammer throw on Thursday as nine others compete in track semifinals. The strength of the program is in the relay events, ranked 11th in the 4×400 and 13th in the 4×100.
